It Wasn't Even A Surprise

First off, my good friend brought up a point that I did not introduce myself to the reader, well here is my wonderful introduction that I am sure all of you were eagerly waiting to read....

My name is Brian and I currently live in the best city in the country, New York City baby. I work in advertising and I enjoy what I am doing so far. I was born and raised in Memphis, Tn and I love everything about Memphis (yes, even how ghetto is).

As you will probably be able to tell, sports are the most important thing to me besides family and friends. Many of my articles will be written in regards to the city of Memphis and the sports within the city, but as the most boring sport in the world comes to an end (baseball), I will begin to crank out some of my national sports opinions when football gets rollin. I will make my pre-season college football predictions before August 1st. I went to the University of Missouri, so if you went to Kansas just try and read the words you understand. So without further ado, here are my thoughts on what happened to the Grizzlies last night....

You could see it right on Rudy Gay's baby face. You could only imagine the first thing he thought in his head when it was announced the Grizzlies would have the fifth pick in the 2008 NBA draft. "Damn, another year of carrying this team to a 25 win season, I need to get the hell out of here." Well Rudy, noone will blame you if we make another poor draft selection, terrible off-season moves (well we did sign Andre Brown last year), and make no attempt to get better whatsoever.

The Chicago Bulls should thank the Memphis Tigers and John Calipari for Derrick Rose being the player he is today because YES, he will be the first pick in the draft and will be wearing a Bulls jersey next season. Except he can't wear #23 for reasons that I'm sure Kansas people don't understand still, hell, I probably lost most of them at "First off." I am sure he will revert back to his high school number of #25 which nobody on the Bulls currently wears. I wish D Rose the best of luck and while I am sad that he cannot stay in Memphis, I am glad that he gets to return home and play for his beloved city of Chi-town.

So, while I think the Grizzlies should take Brooke Lopez, I fear the worst...."With the fifth pick in the 2008 NBA draft, the Memphis Grizzlies select Danilo Gallinari, forward out of Italy." If this happens, we might as well just all come to the arena with a bag over our heads and we won't even need to poke holes through them to watch the game, because it will be a massacre everytime we take the court. Like I said yesterday, I would like us to take Oj Mayo or Brooke Lopez and then do something we have never done which is, MAKE A SMART OFF-SEASON DECISION IN TERMS OF PUTTING PLAYERS ON THE COURT IN OUR UNIFORMS. Until then, lets just sit back and relax and see how it all plays out...
